Dr Walter Obita

Dr. Walter Obita is a seasoned healthcare professional with over 16 years of extensive experience and deep understanding in the health sector. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions by founding and managing healthcare institutions, as well as providing technical expertise in health financing, health systems strengthening, healthcare investments, project management, franchising, public-private engagement and partnerships. He has had the privilege of working with host governments, commercial private sector institutions, investors, non-profit organisations and development agencies across Africa, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the health industry.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, he holds leadership positions in the health sector including the Kenya Healthcare Federation where he is a board director and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance where he is the health sector board chair of the national governing council.

Dr. Walter holds a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Nairobi and is an MBA candidate in Strategic Management at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. He is currently pursuing an MSc. in Public Health (Health Economics) from the University of London. He trained and excelled in Healthcare Management and Leadership at Massachusetts General Hospital, Leadership and Management in Health at University of Washington, Financial Modelling at Strathmore University Business School, and both Management in Health and Basics in Health Economics from the World Bank Educational Institute for Development.
