Dr Boubacar Sawadogo joined MSI in 2010, and in 2024 became Country Director for MSI Burkina Faso. He joined us from the Ministry of Health where he worked as a provider and manager in two health districts.
Boubacar was the first doctor in MSI Burkina Faso’s mobile teams, having obtained his doctorate in medicine in 2004 from the University of Ouagadougou. In this position, he introduced and offered surgical contraception in the mobile strategy of MSI Burkina Faso. He trained several practitioners in tubal ligation, and then became manager. He also held the roles of Clinic Manager, Interim Channels Manager, Quality Assurance Director/MDT, and Deputy Country Director before taking up his current position.
Boubacar has invaluable experience in service quality assurance, training, operations managements, project and programme management, fundraising, international public health, and in managing external relations.
Boubacar’s leadership has contributed to the growth of MSI Burkina Faso from 3,000 clients in 2010, to 300,000 clients by the end of 2023. With his indispensable knowledge of local context, and 21 years of experience in sexual and reproductive health, Boubacar will continue to help MSI Burkina Faso grow.
