Greg is an experienced chief executive and leader in healthcare. His career has spanned the public, private and for-purpose sectors and included hospital pharmacy, executive management of hospitals and medical services, and for-purpose leadership.
From 2012-2021, Greg was Chief Executive of Diabetes Australia and led transformational change from a federated structure to a unified national operation – with consumers, clinicians and commercial operations as the cornerstones. This included responsibility for the Australian Government-funded National Diabetes Services Scheme providing services to over 1.4 million Australians, managing expenditures over $250m per year and over 400 staff. Diabetes Australia includes significant consumer (over 90,000) and health professional (over 3,500) membership and engagement directly and through affiliated organisations – the Australian Diabetes Society and Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
He has held many honorary and advisory roles in healthcare, including Expert Advisory for the Australian National Diabetes Strategy; Diabetes Expert Advisory Group for the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare; Chair/member of the Australian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance; Surveyor with the Australian Council on Health Care Standards; and Professorial appointments at Deakin University and Monash University.
